Meet Josephine Washima-The Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Job Creation

JOSEPHINE WASHIMA- SA TO PRESIDENT ON JOB CREATION


Josephine M. Washima is a Business Transformation Expert, a Human Capital Development Specialist and an Enterprise Support Services Adviser with a strategic intent anchored on sustainable economic growth, innovative partnerships and job creation. With high profile engagements across private and public sectors, she has a track record of consistent accomplishment in maximizing corporate performance.

She is from Benue State which is in the North Central Region of Nigeria. She holds a B.Sc. in Political Science which she obtained from the University of Abuja, Nigeria and she is an MBA Scholar in Entrepreneurship Studies Middlesex University London (Hendon campus) UK. She is also an accredited trainer by Center for Management Development (CMD) and a Certified Counselor by Acadia Centre for Social and Business Entrepreneurship (ACSBE Canada) sponsored by SMEDAN in 2008.


Josephine who started her distinguished career a decade ago is an Oracle Database Administrator and also highly proficient in the Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) Development sector. She has certifications in diverse fields of Enterprise Promotion and Development, Project Management and implementation, Communication/Listening Skills and Business Advisory skills. To further hone her skills and expertise she undertook strategic trainings from globally acknowledged firms and institutions like Irwin Grayson & Associates UK, Manchester Metropolitan University and the Lagos Business School. She is also a member of the Enterprise promotion Convention Harrogate, UK.

As a career Enterprise Promoter, counselor and a certified trainer, she has successfully assisted in pioneering a number of businesses cutting across the various sectors of the economy within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria, Abuja. These businesses have remained afloat since inception.

In 2005, she joined Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA) as a pioneer staff. Having participated in high-level operational initiatives at AEA where she spent half a decade, she together with her UK partners floated a consulting firm, Purplegreen Global Solutions (PGGS). The company is fully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and has since then been   operational. Josephine was the Principal Consultant to PGGS. As a consultant, she was involved in Human Capacity Development initiatives, Advocacy skills Development, Entrepreneurship skills Development and Leadership Grooming. Her expert contributions at PGGS, assisted the company grow within a short time to a client base of no fewer than 2000 people. PurpleGreen is a Consulting firm whose main focus is to stimulate Sustainable Economic growth with a view of creating jobs, building human capacity and encouraging Direct Foreign Investment (DFI) to Nigeria. She has trained high profile entrepreneurs and bank executives. She has worked with youths from all the six (6) geo-political regions of Nigeria and also the United Kingdom (UK).

Her passionate drive for human capacity development and women empowerment led her into facilitating free training for youths and rural women across states of Nigeria. She has trained Dei-Dei Women Farmers Association as well as private school owners in Abuja amongst others. She has equally worked with a number of co-operative societies and youth groups organizing and counseling them to change their work orientation and encouraging them to start their own businesses and seek professional ways to make their business more bankable and focused. 
She has also worked with Beekeepers Association of Nigeria, Kaduna, Groundnut Farmers Association Kano, and Leather Tanners Association, Kano amongst others.

In April 2009 Josephine was hired by Adams Smith International UK, to work on their ENABLE project as a consultant to develop the capacity of Business Membership Organisations (BMOs) in advocacy skills. Her TOR was to assist BMOs come up with suitable advocacy proposals for funding.

Josephine initiated and launched a TV programme called Keeping up with the Entrepreneur in partnership with SMEDAN and the World Bank. The show is targeted at the youths and unemployed graduates to create entrepreneurship awareness.

She has been an active advocate for a better Nigeria. In 2004, Josephine was nominated to join a committee of experts saddled with the responsibility of developing the Framework for Local Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (LEEDS).
On 30th September 2010 she was contracted to work on the organizing committee of the “Nigeria@50” as a Project Manager attached to the sub-committee on publications & documentaries. In 2010 she was a member representing the Private Sector on the Thematic Working Group on Human Capacity Development constituted by The President, Federal Republic of Nigeria (His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan). She is also a Member, Standing Committee on Job Creation constituted by the President Federal Republic of Nigeria (2012).
The exploits and immense contributions of this beautiful,elegant,virile and amiable young lady toward the development of manpower in Nigeria and in the world at large has earned her lots of  laurels and  awards both nationally and internationally.

In the year 2012 Josephine was  appointed the Special Assistant to the President  on  Job Creation  based on her sterling profile and verifiable contributions to job creation in Nigeria. She is currently the SA  to President Goodluck Jonathan on Job creation.
