I will be telling stories on this blog more in pictures cos pictures don't lie. However in this write-up I won't share the picture of the individual for personal reasons and respect for privacy. Hear my story, it will help in how we deal with each other and stop the hating.
The Wizkid and Skales twitter fight inspired me to share my story.
I applied for an American visa for a young talented Nigerian to travel with me to New York next week to attend the UN International Women's day from 11th-12th March 2015. I personally went together with this young Nigerian to the American embassy because I also had to renew my US visa. We were both successful. To God be the glory. My joy knew no bounds because before I left my house for the embassy I prayed and asked God to show me his mercy and prove to this person that I serve a living God. He was skeptical but I was not. In a bid to ensure there was no mistake in his documentation I forgot my own documents, got to the embassy and had to drive back to pick up my documents by myself. I enjoyed the drive thou cos I haven't been driving lately and it was fun to be behind the wheels after a long time of been driven around. I told my protégée to stay back and go in for his interview if called while I rush back to pick up my documents. I was not bothered for myself but was more concerned for him because mine was a renewal. To my surprise he refused to go into the embassy until I came back and off we went into the premises of the embassy of God's own country where the fear of your interviewee is the beginning of wisdom but here is the trick. You must go prepared and be confident. Show them you love your country Nigeria and nothing can make you stay back in the US and you will get your visa. That simple.
Anyway we got in, I was called first, my interview was very brief and renewal granted. Then my newly discovered talent was called, I was evesdropping on the discussions that were going on with his interview and enjoying myself cos he wasn't doing badly, suddenly the lady who interviewed me called my attention and gave me my visa collection paper. I had to go outside and wait for my talented Nigerian to come out. Come out he did with his visa collection paper and I jumped up and praised God.
Why do we continue to fight ourselves when together we can achieve a lot more. Skales is talented, Wizkid is talented both started from humble beginnings and were on the same record label. Why the hating. I will be expecting a collabo from the two of them while I take my talented young Nigerian to New York.
God knows why he said 'Love Your Neighbour as Yourself" because it is only in unity that we can progress. Nobody has the monopoly of talent, new talents and future leaders are born everyday.
Maximize your potential and make a difference in another persons life without making noise about it cos WHO KNOWS TOMORROW. There is wealth at the bottom of the pyramid.
One love!!!
